A natural born athlete, this Brooklyn, New York native indulged his competitive spirit early in life in sports ranging from tennis to baseball. Enjoying a traditional home-life of his era, Bill was the product of a stay-at-home mom and an entrepreneurial father who owned and operated several women’s clothing stores. In fact, It was his father’s entrepreneurial drive combined with his mother’s love of home and family that would one day prove to be the driving force behind Family Labels.

After the Berg family moved to Florida, Bill went on to graduate High School and initially pursued an Accounting degree at the University of Florida. A need for a more fulfilling career path however led him to instead put his entrepreneurial skills in motion immediately and leave U.F. after his Sophmore year. Thus began a ten year, cross country odyssey that saw Bill traveling to colleges throughout the United States buying and selling textbooks. It was during this time that Bill met his creative partner and future wife, Karen. Soon after the Berg family was official with the birth of their son Benny.

In an unexpected turn of circumstances Bill and Karen proved their pioneering spirit when they were able to turn a potential calamity to their advantage as a back injury laid up Bill and required several months of bed rest. It was while sending thank you notes to the many get- well-wishers that had rallied around Bill that a moment of inspiration forever changed their lives. Karen enlisted her whimsical artistic skills and created personalized return labels to show off their growing family - including Benny and their beloved dogs, Louie and Sophie. An ideal combination of Bill’s business skills and Karen’s home-spun creativity led to the birth of Family Labels.

The rave reviews were immediate with both family and friends not only conveying their appreciation - but placing orders of their own!
